The ancient Egyptians wanted their kings to live forever. They thought if a body stayed strong, the spirit could keep living too. So they wrapped pharaohs in special bandages and put them in cool tombs to stay safe for the afterlife.
Examples
- A king was wrapped like a present and placed in a tomb with gold and food for his journey to the afterlife.
- The body of the pharaoh was dried so it could last forever, just like magic.
- Sometimes, the heart of the dead was left inside because they believed it would be weighed against a feather in the afterlife.
