Why Did the Ancient Egyptians Mummify Their Cats?

Cats were very important to the ancient Egyptians. They believed cats brought good luck and protected them from evil spirits. When a cat died, they sometimes wrapped it in cloth like a present, this was called mummification. Some people even gave their dead cats special coffins!
