Why Did Roman Emperors Start Wearing Purple?

Long ago in Rome, only the boss could wear bright purple clothes. This special color came from tiny sea snails called murex. Imagine a giant tank full of these snails. To make one piece of cloth, workers needed thousands of them. They crushed the snails to get a juice that turned into a stunning deep red-purple. Because so many snails were needed, this purple dye cost more than gold! The emperor wore it to show he was the richest and most powerful person in the whole world. If you wore regular purple, people might think you were trying too hard or even breaking the rules. Today, when we see a king or queen wear purple robes, we remember that old Roman rule. It means they are special. That is why emperors loved their purple so much.
