Michelangelo left The Entombment unfinished because he got distracted by another big project, kind of like when you're building a really cool treehouse but then someone comes and says, “Hey, want to go play soccer instead?”

A Big Distraction
One day, Michelangelo got a new job: painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. That was a huge project, imagine painting on the top of a really tall room while lying on your back!
So, even though he started The Entombment, he had to go work on that ceiling instead. He didn’t have time to finish his first painting, it’s like starting a puzzle but then being called away before you can put all the pieces together.
He came back later and tried to add more details, but he never finished it completely. That's why The Entombment looks a little bit unfinished, just like when you start drawing a picture and get called away mid-stroke!
