Malls used to be the most popular places to shop, but now they're not as busy because people have other choices.
People started shopping online
Once upon a time, if you wanted something new, you had to go to the mall. But then something special happened: the internet came along! Now kids and parents can just click on a picture of a toy or shirt, and it arrives at their house in a few days. That means they don’t need to walk through all the stores in the mall, they can just sit on the couch.
Malls also had to compete with new places
Some malls were near parks or schools, but now there are lots of new stores and fun spots like video game places, arcades, and even coffee shops that opened up right next to schools. That means kids have more fun places to go, not just the mall.
So, malls became less popular because people could shop from their homes and had other fun choices nearby!
Examples
