Ancient civilizations built pyramids as big, strong homes for their kings, and they also wanted to show how important their kings were.
Imagine you have a favorite toy that you love the most, maybe it's your robot or your teddy bear. If you were the king of a big kingdom, you'd want your special place in the sky to be just as amazing as your toy. That’s what pyramids were like, big, strong buildings that helped kings reach the sky after they passed away.
Why They Built Pyramids
- To honor their kings: Just like we give our favorite toys a special spot in our room, ancient people wanted to make sure their kings had a very special place too.
- To show how powerful they were: Building such huge pyramids took lots of people working together, it was like having the biggest, most amazing LEGO set ever!
They also believed that if the king was close to the sky, he would be happy and could help protect the people from harm.
So pyramids were like super strong, super special birthday cakes for kings, big enough to last forever!
