Infant amnesia is when babies can’t remember their first few years of life. It’s like if you got a new toy, played with it for a day, and then forgot about it completely, even though you had so much fun with it! This happens because the parts of the brain that help us remember things are still growing up.
Examples
- Imagine you had a favorite toy as a baby, but now you can’t remember having it.
- You know your mom and dad, but you don’t remember what it was like to be with them when you were just born.
- You’ve been told you were a really good sleeper, but you have no idea how that feels.
