Sounds need something to travel through. On Earth, sound waves move through air, like a bumpy road for the vibrations. But in space, there's no air or other stuff, so sounds just stop and can't go anywhere.
Examples
- A dog barking on Earth is heard clearly, but the same dog would be completely silent if it were barking in space.
- You can hear a loud explosion at the end of a fireworks show, but in space, there would be no sound, just light and energy.
- Tapping your fingers on a table makes noise, but tapping them in deep space would make absolutely nothing.
