Why Can't We Transplant Brains?

A brain is like a super busy city that needs roads and signals to work properly, and it doesn’t want to move easily.

Brains are made up of billions of tiny wires, called neurons, which send messages all over the body. When you try to transplant a brain, meaning put it into another body, those tiny wires get confused because they don't know where they are anymore, like when you move from your home to a new town and suddenly lose your way.

Also, brains need blood, just like we do. If the blood doesn’t reach the brain quickly after a transplant, the brain gets sleepy or even stops working, kind of like how you feel tired if you don't eat for too long.

Sometimes people think that transplanting a whole brain is impossible because it’s so complicated and messy, but scientists are still trying to make it work one day!

Why It's Like Moving a City

Imagine your favorite toy city, with cars going on roads. Now picture moving the whole city in one go without breaking any roads or stopping the traffic, that’s what happens when we try to transplant a brain!
