Why Can't the Fruit Snacks of the '80s Exist Now?

Fruit snacks from the 80s are like a soft, squishy cookie that you can't find in the store today because they changed their recipe.

Fruit snacks used to be made with real fruit juice and sugar. They were squishy, sweet, and kind of fuzzy on your tongue, like biting into a piece of cotton candy that also tastes like oranges.

Now, most fruit snacks are made with artificial flavors and lots of sugar. They’re still sweet, but they don’t feel the same in your mouth. It’s more like eating a hard candy that says it’s an orange, it just doesn’t feel like one.

Why did they change?

Sometimes people want things to be faster or cheaper. The 80s fruit snacks took longer to make because they used real fruit juice, which is harder to work with. Now, with special machines and fake flavors, companies can make a million fruit snacks in no time, but they don’t feel as fun to eat.

So even though today’s fruit snacks are still sweet, they’re just not the same as the ones you used to bite into like a soft cloud.
