Why Are There Different Colors on the Moon?

The moon might look gray from far away, but up close it has different colors. It's like a painter used many shades of gray and white to make the picture. Some parts are darker because they're made of older rocks that have been hit by space debris for a long time. Other parts are lighter because they're covered with fresh dust from recent impacts.
