Why Are There Black Holes and What Happens to Anything That Falls Into One?

There are black holes because some places in space get so heavy that nothing can escape them, not even light.

Imagine you're playing with a trampoline and a ball. If you jump on the trampoline, it bends. The more weight you put on it, the deeper the bend gets. Now imagine putting a super-heavy ball on the trampoline, it makes a really deep dent. That’s like what happens when a black hole forms.

What Makes a Black Hole

A black hole is like that heavy ball on the trampoline, so heavy and tight that space around it gets stretched out, making everything near it get pulled in. If you’re close enough, even light can’t escape, which makes the area look completely dark.

What Happens to Things That Fall In

If something falls into a black hole, like a spaceship or your favorite toy, it gets squished as it goes deeper and deeper. It might be stretched out like silly putty before disappearing entirely. We don't know exactly what happens at the very center, but it’s probably super weird, like being squeezed into nothingness!
