Some people are left-handed because it’s in their genes. Like how some plants grow toward the sun, our bodies can prefer one side over the other. It might feel like magic, but it's just nature working its way through us. Scientists think it happens when a baby is growing inside a mom, like flipping a coin for which hand to be stronger.
Examples
- A baby who prefers using their left hand to grab a toy
- A person who writes with their left hand and feels more comfortable doing so
- A kid who throws a ball with their left hand but uses the right to eat
