Why are numbers everywhere?

Numbers are everywhere because we use them to count and measure things in our daily lives.

Imagine you have a basket full of apples. If you want to know how many apples are there, you start counting: 1, 2, 3... That’s using numbers! Numbers help us say how many items we see or touch, like the number of toys on your bed, the number of steps you take when you run, or even the number of cookies in a jar.

How We Use Numbers to Measure

Numbers also help us understand size and distance. When you grow taller, you might go from 3 feet to 4 feet, that’s using numbers to show how much you’ve grown! Or think about measuring your favorite snack: a bag of chips might say it has 10 ounces, which tells you how much you’re getting.

Even when we tell time, we use numbers, like saying it's 3 o’clock or half past 5. Numbers help us organize our days and know when to go to bed or when to play outside.

So whether you're counting toys, measuring your height, or telling the time, numbers are there to help you make sense of the world, just like a friendly helper who’s always around!
