Why are nations increasing their efforts to mine asteroids?

Nations are trying harder to mine asteroids because they want something special that could help them a lot.

Imagine your favorite candy jar is full of gold and silver, but it's way up in the sky, floating around on a spaceship. That spaceship is an asteroid. Right now, we have only a few jars like that, but there are way more out there! If we can get to them, we’ll have lots of gold and silver to use for building cool things or even buying candy for everyone.

Like a Treasure Hunt in Space

Mining asteroids is kind of like going on a treasure hunt. Instead of digging in the ground, astronauts would go up to an asteroid, grab the shiny stuff (like metal or water), and bring it back. This could help countries make better robots, spaceships, or even computers, all without using as much Earth stuff.

A Big Future

If we find enough treasure in space, one day we might not need to dig on Earth anymore, just look up at the sky!
