Why are global supply chains still facing challenges?

Global supply chains are still facing challenges because things can go wrong, just like when you're building a tower with blocks.

Imagine you and your friends are making a big toy train track that goes all the way around the neighborhood. Each friend has a part of the track to build, and they need to pass pieces along so the whole train can run smoothly. But sometimes, one friend drops their block, or another gets stuck in traffic on their bike, or it starts to rain and washes away some of the track. These little problems mean the train might not arrive when expected, or maybe it doesn’t arrive at all.

Like a relay race with interruptions

Supply chains are like that toy train track, a long line of people and places working together. If one part slows down, like a factory in another country can't make enough toys, the whole chain feels it. That’s why sometimes we don’t get our favorite snacks or clothes as quickly as we’d like.

Also, sometimes there are big surprises, like a storm or a virus that makes people sick and stops them from working, just like if you got stuck in bed with a cold and couldn't go to school. These surprises can throw the whole train track out of sync for a while!
