Africa and the world are like kids who forgot to pack their backpacks for school, they didn’t bring what they needed when the next big problem came along.
Pandemics are like big, sudden storms that hit people all over the world. They make many people sick at once, and sometimes even take lives. The last pandemic, a few years ago, was like a very loud thunderstorm that surprised everyone, especially kids in Africa who didn’t have enough supplies to stay safe or healthy.
Why Didn't Everyone Bring Their Backpacks?
Some places had more supplies, like extra notebooks, pencils, and raincoats. These were like medicines, tests, and ventilators that help people get better when they’re sick. But in many parts of Africa, there weren’t enough of these things to go around.
Also, not everyone got to learn about the storm before it hit, some kids didn’t know what was coming until it was already here. That’s like not getting a weather forecast before the big thunderstorm.
So now, both Africa and the world are still getting ready for the next big pandemic, because they forgot their backpacks last time!
