Xerxes I was a king who ruled a huge land called Persia, like being the boss of a giant playground.
Imagine you have a really big group of friends, some from your neighborhood, some from far away, and you're trying to lead them all in one big game. That's what Xerxes I did. He was a king who ruled over many different people, and he wanted everyone to follow him.
Like a Super Boss
Xerxes I was like a super boss because he had a huge army, imagine thousands of soldiers marching together, all wearing cool uniforms. He even had a big bridge made just for his army to cross a river, kind of like how you might build a path out of blocks to get from one side of the room to the other.
He was also known for fighting in a big battle called the Battle of Thermopylae, where he faced off against some brave Greek soldiers. It’s like when your team faces off against another team in a soccer match, Xerxes I had a lot more players, but the Greeks were really tough!
Xerxes I wanted to show everyone how powerful he was, and he did some amazing things that made people remember him for a long time.
