Who is Victim Impact?

Victim Impact is when someone’s life gets changed because another person was hurt or had something bad happen to them.

Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy, and suddenly it breaks because a friend tripped over it. That friend didn’t mean to break your toy, but now you are sad because your toy is broken. That's kind of like Victim Impact in real life. The person who got hurt or had something bad happen to them is the "victim," and how that affects others is the "impact."

How It Works

When someone gets hurt, it can change their life, maybe they can’t go to school for a while or can't play with friends. People around them might feel sad or worried too, just like you felt when your toy broke.

Sometimes, people who did something bad (like breaking the toy) have to think about how their actions affected others. That helps them understand why it's important to be careful and kind, just like you might try not to trip over someone else’s toys next time!
