Who is The Senate?

The Senate is a group of people who help make big decisions for the country, like a team that helps run a school.

Imagine your school has a Senate, it’s like a club where some kids get to vote on things like having more recess or choosing a new lunch menu. In real life, the Senate is part of the government and works with other groups, like the House of Representatives, to help choose leaders and pass laws.

How the Senate Works

Each state in the country gets two members in the Senate, no matter how big or small the state is. That’s like giving every classroom in a school two kids who get to speak for their whole class when making decisions.

These people are called Senators, and they work together to make sure everyone’s voice is heard, even if some states have more people than others. It helps keep things fair, so no one gets left out just because they're smaller or bigger.
