Sequential Play is when you do things one after another, just like counting your steps as you walk.
Imagine you're playing with building blocks. You put one block on top of another, not all at once, but one by one. That's Sequential Play! It’s like telling a story: first there was a character, then they went somewhere, and finally something happened. Each part happens in order.
Like Eating a Sandwich
Think about eating a sandwich. You don’t eat the whole thing at once, you take one bite after another. First the top layer, then the middle, then the bottom. That’s Sequential Play too! You follow a path, step by step, just like when you put on your shoes and socks: first the sock goes on, then the shoe.
It's Like a Game of Steps
Sequential Play is like climbing stairs, one step at a time. You don’t jump from the bottom to the top all in one go. You take one step, then another, until you reach the top. That’s how Sequential Play works: doing things little by little, in order, just like you do every day!
Examples
- Choosing which toy to play with next, based on what you played with before
- Deciding the order of your meals for the day without thinking too much about it
- Picking the fastest route to school because you've done it this way every morning
