Who is Passive LBS?

Passive LBS is like having a friend who always knows where you are without asking.

Imagine you're playing hide and seek at school. You don’t tell anyone where you’re hiding, but your friend still guesses correctly every time. That’s because they’ve been watching you from afar, noticing patterns in how you move or where you usually go. Passive LBS works the same way: it figures out where someone is by looking at clues like phone signals, Wi-Fi spots, or nearby devices, without that person needing to say anything.

How It Works

Think of your phone as a detective. When you're walking around town, it notices different Wi-Fi networks, cell towers, and other phones nearby. These are all like little signs telling the detective (your phone) where you might be. The detective uses these clues to guess, or know, that you’re at the park, your favorite café, or even on the bus.

Passive LBS doesn’t need you to tap a button or tell it where you are. It just quietly follows you around like a shadow, learning and knowing where you go without asking.
