Who is Native Americans?

Native Americans are people who have lived on the land now called the United States for a very long time.

Imagine your family has been living in the same house for hundreds of years, maybe even thousands! That’s kind of like what Native Americans are to this country. They were here before many other people came.

Like Different Families with Their Own Stories

There are many groups of Native Americans, just like there are many families. Each group has its own language, traditions, and ways of life, almost like different neighborhoods in a big city. Some live near the ocean, some on the plains, and others in forests or mountains.

They Are Still Here Today

Even though new people came to the land, Native Americans didn’t disappear. Many still live there today, keeping their customs and stories alive, just like you might keep a favorite family recipe even if you move to a new house.
