The Local Bubble is like a giant, empty space in our galaxy that we’re floating through, kind of like being inside a big, clear balloon.
Imagine you're playing with your toys in the living room, and then someone blows up a huge bubble around you, it's still the same room, but now there's lots of empty space around everything. That’s what the Local Bubble is like: a giant, almost empty area that we’re inside, made by something powerful that pushed out all the gas and dust around us.
What Made the Local Bubble?
Think of the Local Bubble as being created by a bunch of really loud fireworks, not in the sky, but way far away, in space. These fireworks are from stars that exploded long ago, called supernovas. When they went boom, they sent out waves that pushed gas and dust outwards, leaving behind this big, empty area.
We’re floating inside it now, like being inside a giant bubble made by a space firework show, and we didn’t even notice it happened!
