Who Was Lisa?
Lisa was a woman who lived in Italy a long time ago, around the year 1500. She was married and had kids, just like many people today. People say she might have been a noblewoman, which means she came from a family with a lot of influence, kind of like being part of a really important group of friends.
Why Is She Famous?
A painter named Leonardo da Vinci made a painting of Lisa, and that’s the Mona Lisa we see today. He probably painted her because he wanted to show how beautiful and calm she was, just like when you draw your friend smiling at you in the morning.
So even though Lisa Gherardini didn’t know it, she became one of the most famous people in art history!
