Who is Karl Popper?

Karl Popper was a thinker who helped people understand how we know things, like figuring out what’s true and what’s not.

Imagine you have a big box of Legos, and you think the only way to build a castle is by using red bricks. But then you try building it with blue ones, and it still works! Karl Popper would say that just because something works doesn’t mean it’s the only way it can work. He believed we should always look for ways to test our ideas, like trying out different colors of Legos.

The “Test Your Idea” Rule

Karl Popper had a special rule: good ideas are the ones that can be tested and possibly proven wrong. He called this falsifiability. It’s like when you guess your friend’s favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate, but then they say it's vanilla, your idea gets “tested” and might get “proven wrong.” But that doesn’t mean it was a bad guess, it just means there’s more to discover!

Karl Popper didn’t just think about science. He thought this way of testing ideas could help people in many parts of life, like politics or even everyday choices. His thinking is still used today by scientists and thinkers around the world! Karl Popper was a thinker who helped people understand how we know things, like figuring out what’s true and what’s not.
