Who is International Meridian Conference?

The International Meridian Conference was like a group of friends deciding where to put a big imaginary line on Earth so everyone could agree on time.

Imagine you and your friends are playing with a map of the world, and you all want to know what time it is in different places. But if no one agrees on where to start counting time, it gets confusing. That's where the International Meridian Conference came in, they were like the teachers who helped everyone agree on a starting point for time.

Choosing the Big Line

They picked a special line called the Prime Meridian, which is like the "zero" of time on Earth. It runs through a place called Greenwich, near London. So now, when people say it's 12 o’clock in Greenwich, they can figure out what time it is anywhere else in the world, just like you know how many steps away you are from your friend’s house.

It was kind of like choosing where to put the big hand on a clock so everyone could tell the time together.
