Imagine your classroom is a big group of friends who all help each other learn, but one day, someone starts taking away some of those friends and saying they’re not good enough anymore. That’s kind of what happened during the Great Purge.
Like Being Kicked Out of a Game
In real life, it was like a giant game of tag, except instead of being tagged, some people got kicked out for no real reason. The Great Purge was when a leader decided to get rid of many people who had helped him before, just because he didn’t trust them anymore.
Why It Happened
It’s like if you were playing a game with your best friends, and then someone said, “I don’t think these friends are good enough anymore,” so they got sent away. Some of them even ended up in prison or couldn’t play the game anymore, just because they weren’t trusted.
That’s how it felt for many people during the Great Purge, like being suddenly taken out of a fun game with no warning.
Examples
- Many important people were suddenly arrested and killed without warning.
- It was a way for the leader to keep control over his country.
