Who is Fritz Zwicky?

Fritz Zwicky was a super-smart scientist who helped us understand how stars and galaxies work.

Imagine you're playing with building blocks, some are small, some are big, and when they fall apart, they make loud noises. Fritz Zwicky was like the kid who figured out why those blocks made noise when they fell apart. He discovered that supernovas, which are like really big stars exploding, happen because of something called neutron stars inside them.

Fritz noticed that some stars were so heavy, they collapsed in on themselves, creating super-dense objects. These are like block towers that are so tall and strong, even when they fall, they don’t just crash, they boom with a special kind of power.

He also guessed that the universe has many more stars than we can see, it's like having a giant toy box full of invisible toys waiting to be found!
