The First Vatican Council was a big meeting where important people talked about what Christians should believe.
Imagine you're in a classroom, and everyone is learning about the same subject, like math or reading. But some kids think one way to solve problems is better than another. The First Vatican Council was kind of like that classroom, but for grown-up Christians who were trying to agree on important beliefs.
Like a Big School Meeting
In this big meeting, people from all over the world came together. They were like teachers and students in our classroom example, some had been learning about Christianity for a long time, others were just starting out. They talked about what makes someone a Christian and what they should believe about God.
One of the main things they decided was that God is one, but also has three parts: the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit, like how a family can be one unit but have different members who all play important roles. This idea became an official part of what Christians believe today.
