Who is End-Permian Extinction?

The End-Permian Extinction was the biggest mass extinction in Earth’s history, like when a giant wave washed away almost all the toys from your room.

Imagine you have a huge, colorful toy box full of different kinds of toys: cars, dolls, blocks, and action figures. That's like what Earth looked like before the End-Permian Extinction, lots of different animals and plants living together.

Then, something really bad happened. It was like someone poured hot lava into the toy box and shook it hard. Many of the toys broke or got lost. This is what happened to Earth: huge changes in climate and environment made it very hard for most life to survive.

What did it feel like?

It’s like having a really long, hot summer that never ends, and then suddenly everything gets super cold, like winter came right after summer. That’s the kind of wild weather change that happened during the End-Permian Extinction.

In the end, only a few toys (and animals) were left to play with, but they started over again, making Earth more colorful once more.
