Emotional Contagion is when one person’s feelings spread to others like a smile spreading through a room.
Imagine you're sitting at the dinner table with your family. Your brother starts laughing really hard at a joke, and soon everyone else is laughing too, even if they didn’t get the joke. That’s emotional contagion in action!
Like a Contagious Smile
Think of it like a virus, but instead of making people sneeze, it makes them feel happy, sad, or excited. If someone around you is really happy, you might start feeling happy too, just by being near them.
The Copycat Feeling
It's like when you copy what your friend does. If they’re jumping up and down with excitement, you might jump too. Or if they're frowning because something didn’t go their way, you might feel a little sad without even knowing why.
Sometimes, it happens so fast that you don’t even realize it, just like how a yawn can spread through a group of people in seconds!
Examples
