Who is Droop Quota?

Droop Quota is a special number that helps decide who wins when there are many choices.

Imagine you and your friends are picking a new game to play at recess. There are four games: tag, hide-and-seek, jump rope, and kickball. You all vote for your favorite. But instead of just picking the one with the most votes, you use Droop Quota to see who gets picked.

To find Droop Quota, you take the total number of votes and divide it by the number of choices plus 1. Let’s say there are 20 kids voting for 4 games. That means Droop Quota is 20 ÷ (4 + 1) = 4. So anyone who gets at least 4 votes becomes a winner.

It's like having a magic ticket, if you get enough votes, you're in! This way, more than one game can be picked, and everyone feels heard. It’s fair, simple, and works just like sharing toys, you only need to have enough friends who want it with you.
