Who is Democratic Governance?

Democratic governance is when people get to choose who makes the rules for their community.

Imagine you and your friends are playing a game in the park. You all want to decide how the game will be played, like who gets to be captain, or what happens if someone breaks the rules. Instead of letting one person decide everything, you all vote on it. That’s democratic governance in action!

Like a Classroom Election

In your classroom, when you choose your class president, that's democratic governance too! Everyone gets to say who they think should lead the class, just like how people in a town or country get to pick their leaders.

How It Works Every Day

When you vote for someone, it means you believe they will do what’s best for everyone. If you don’t like how things are going, you can vote for someone new next time, just like when your class votes again at the end of the year.

That’s why democratic governance is fair and fun, it lets everyone have a say in who leads them!
