Which Fish Did We Evolve From?

We evolved from fish that lived in the ocean a very long time ago, like a million years long!

What Does That Mean?

Imagine you're playing with building blocks. You start with just one block, and every day you add more to make something bigger and cooler. That's kind of what happened with humans.

The first fish were simple, they had gills to breathe underwater and fins to swim. Over time, some fish started to change a little bit, maybe they came onto land for a while or had babies that looked different from them. These changes kept happening, like adding more blocks to your tower.

Eventually, after many, many years, those fish became humans, just like how you can turn a simple tower of blocks into a castle!

So What Fish Were We?

The fish we evolved from were not the ones in the ocean today. They looked more like a mix between a frog and a fish, with legs that helped them move on land too.

So, humans are like fish who had a long, fun adventure, turning from swimmers into walkers! We evolved from fish that lived in the ocean a very long time ago, like a million years long!
