How language began is a mystery
Imagine you and your friend are playing hide-and-seek, but you can’t talk. You both try to figure out what the other person means by pointing or making sounds. Over time, those simple sounds might become words, like “hide” or “found!” That’s kind of how language could have started: people made up sounds for things they saw and felt, and then shared them with others.
Theories are like guesses
Some scientists think language began when humans needed to work together, maybe to hunt big animals. Others think it came from singing or even laughing! These ideas are called theories, and they help us understand how people might have gone from making simple sounds to having full conversations, just like you and your friend do every day.
Even though we don’t know exactly how language started, the different theories make it a fun mystery, kind of like solving a puzzle with your friends! Humans have language, but nobody knows exactly how it started, it’s like a big puzzle we’re still trying to solve!
