Why Oil Is Like a Playground Slide
Think of oil as a slide in a playground, if there's no slide, kids can’t go down, just like if there’s no oil, food can’t get crispy. When the pan is empty, it’s like a bare floor, your food might stick and not cook evenly.
When to Add Oil, Like Putting on Your Shoes
You add oil when the pan is warm but not too hot, like when you put on your shoes before going outside, not too early, not too late. If you add oil when the pan is cold, it takes longer to get hot and might not make food as crispy. But if you add oil when the pan is already very hot, it can smoke a lot, which isn’t fun.
So, just like you know when to put on your shoes, you’ll learn when to add oil, right before cooking starts!
Examples
- Adding oil to a cold pan makes it easier to spread out evenly.
- If the pan is too hot, the oil might burn before the food cooks.
- Using oil in a non-stick pan can reduce the need for extra oil.
