What Happened to Mars?
Mars lost its atmosphere, which is like a cozy blanket around the planet. Without this blanket, the water on Mars couldn’t stay liquid, it turned into ice, just like when you leave your soda in the freezer too long.
Also, wind and weather used to be stronger on Mars than they are today. It was more like a big, fun storm every day instead of just a little breeze.
Now, Mars is much drier, it's like leaving your toy in the sun all day and forgetting to water it. But scientists think that long ago, Mars might have had rivers, lakes, and even maybe trees!
