What Makes Ash?
When you light a fire, like in a campfire or a bonfire, the wood or paper gets hot and changes. It becomes smoke, then it goes all the way to being ash.
Think of it like baking cookies. When you put your cookie on the oven, it’s soft and squishy, but after it bakes, it turns into something hard and crunchy. Ash is kind of like that, it's what’s left when everything else has gone away.
What Can You Do With Ash?
Sometimes people use ash to make soil better for plants. It’s like giving the ground a little extra help so flowers or vegetables can grow stronger. You might even see people putting it in their gardens!
Ash is also good at absorbing water, which is why some people put it in their shoes when they go camping, it helps keep their feet dry.
So next time you see ash, think of it as the leftover part of something that used to be hot and bright!
