The sun shines because it's like a giant fireball burning inside. Imagine you have a big ball of hydrogen, that’s what the sun is mostly made of. Inside, the hydrogen gets really hot and starts to change into helium, which releases lots of energy as light and heat. That’s why we feel warm on Earth.
