Some people are humble and others are arrogant because of how they see themselves compared to other people.
Imagine you have a big bag of candy. If you think you got the most candy, even if someone else has just as much or more, you might feel arrogant, like you're the best, and everyone else is just okay.
But if you think maybe someone else got more candy, or that it's just fun to share, then you’re being humble, you don’t need to be the best all the time.
How People See Themselves
- Arrogant people are like a kid who always says they're the fastest runner in the class, even when someone else beats them.
- Humble people are more like a kid who smiles and says, “Maybe I’ll win next time,” even if they were first this time.
It’s not about being right or wrong, it's about how you feel inside when you compare yourself to others.
Examples
- A kid wins a race but says 'I just ran fast,' while another kid says 'I'm the best runner in the world.'
- Someone gets praised at work and shrugs it off, while another person brags about their achievements to everyone.
- A student studies hard for an exam and thinks they did well, but doesn't act like they're special.
