Volcanoes erupt when something inside the Earth gets very hot and pushes its way out. Think of it like a bottle of soda, if you shake it up and then open it, it all comes rushing out! When volcanoes cool down, they're like that same bottle left in the fridge, the fizz settles, and everything becomes calm again.
What Makes It Erupt
Inside the Earth is magma, which is hot melted rock. When pressure builds up, the magma finds a path to the surface, boom, an eruption happens!
How It Cools Down
Once the lava cools down on the ground, it hardens into rock. Just like how ice cream melts and then freezes again, volcanoes can go from fiery explosions to quiet slumber.
Examples
- Mountains can be formed from cooled lava flows after an eruption.
