Fairness is when everyone gets the same chances. Imagine a race where all runners start at the same line, that’s fair. But if some get a head start, that’s unfair. In society, fairness means people should have equal opportunities to succeed, even if they don’t end up with exactly the same things.
Examples
- A child in a wealthy family has a private tutor; a child in a poor family doesn’t.
- Everyone gets the same amount of time on a game show, but one player already knows all the answers.
- All students take the same math test, but some have had years of extra help.
