Shadows happen when light can't reach something. Imagine you're in a room with a lamp, and you stand between the lamp and a wall, your body blocks the light, so it can’t reach the wall where you are. That dark shape on the wall is your shadow! If there's no light, or if the light goes around the object, then no shadow forms.
Examples
- A tree blocks sunlight during the day, making a shadow on the ground.
- Your friend's hand covers part of a light source, so their shadow grows bigger.
