What Makes a ‘Good’ Leader in History?

A good leader is someone who helps others do their best and makes sure everyone works together toward a common goal.

Imagine you're playing a game with your friends, like tag or hide-and-seek. A good leader in the game would be the person who makes sure everyone knows the rules, cheers people on when they’re struggling, and maybe even helps plan the next round so it’s more fun for everyone.

What Makes a Leader Great?

  1. They listen to others. Just like how you might tell your mom what you want for lunch, a good leader pays attention to what other people say and thinks about their ideas.
  2. They take care of the group. Like when you’re playing with blocks, and someone spills all the pieces, a great leader would help pick them up and make sure no one feels left out.

Sometimes leaders have to make tough choices too, like when it’s time to stop playing and go home. But they always try to do what's fair and kind, just like how you’d want your friend to be treated fairly in the game.
