What is White?

White is what happens when all the colors come together.

Imagine you have a box full of crayons, red, blue, yellow, green, and every color in between. Now imagine you mix all those colors together in one big pile. That’s white! It's like when you shine a flashlight into a room, the light is made up of all the colors, but they’re so mixed up that we just see it as bright white light.

What makes something white?

Sometimes things look white because they reflect all the colors. Think about a piece of paper, no matter what color you shine a light on it, it still looks white. That’s because it sends back every color it gets. It's like a mirror for all colors at once!

White is also the end of the rainbow

You know how a rainbow has red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet? Well, if you go beyond the rainbow, or put all those colors together, that’s white! It's like the final mix in a big color party.
