How wasabi feels
Wasabi is not like regular spicy food. It doesn’t just burn your tongue, it sends tiny fireworks from your nose all the way to your brain! It’s like when you blow on a hot soup, but instead of steam, there’s spicy smoke coming out of your nose.
Where wasabi comes from
Wasabi grows in cold, wet places, usually near rivers. People take its roots and grind them into a paste, just like how you might mash up a banana with a fork to make a smoothie. That's how you get the green, spicy paste we know as wasabi!
Examples
- Wasabi is like a green pepper but much spicier, used in Japanese food to go with raw fish.
- You see a green paste on your sushi roll, that's wasabi, and it adds a strong, fresh heat.
