What is vertical? It’s when something goes up and down, like a ladder.
Imagine you're standing on the floor, and you climb up a ladder, that's going vertical! You’re moving straight up, not sideways or around in circles. Like when you stack blocks one on top of another, each block is higher than the last. That’s vertical stacking.
Like a Tower
Like a Tree
Or think of a tree growing out of the ground. The trunk goes up, right? That’s vertical too. If you draw a straight line from the roots all the way to the tip of the branches, that's a vertical line.
So, whenever something moves or stands in an up-down direction, like a ladder, a tower, or a tree, it's going vertical!
Examples
- A tree growing upwards is an example of vertical direction.
- Standing up straight means you are in a vertical position.
