What is verbal?

Verbal means something that uses words, just like when you talk or read a book.

Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy, maybe it's a robot that says "Beep! Boop!" when you press its buttons. That robot is using verbal sounds because it’s speaking in words, even if they’re silly ones!

Now think about drawing a picture of the robot instead of saying what it looks like. When you draw, you're using non-verbal communication, no words, just pictures.

  1. When you talk to your friend, you're being verbal.
  2. When you write a note and give it to someone, that’s also verbal, because you used words on paper.
  3. If you point at the robot and say nothing, that's non-verbal, just like when you use emojis in messages!

So, verbal is all about using words to share your thoughts with others, whether you're speaking, writing, or even typing!
