Like a Hot Blanket Around the Sun
Imagine you’re wearing a really warm blanket on a cold day, that's what Venus feels like. It has a thick layer of clouds made mostly of carbon dioxide, which traps heat, making it super hot. In fact, Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system, even hotter than Mercury!
A Twin to Earth
Venus looks a lot like Earth, both have rocky surfaces and can have clouds. But Venus has some wild differences. Its day is longer than its year, which means it takes longer to spin around once than it does to go all the way around the Sun.
If you could visit Venus, it would be like stepping into a steamy sauna with a thick fog, but instead of water vapor, the fog is made of sulfuric acid!
